AC Bhaktivedanta Swami's Bhagavad Gita As It Is
Before our greatly beloved Guru Maharaja, His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada came to West very few here had ever heard of the Glorious Song of God (the Bhagavad Gita). Thanks to his steadfast faith and devotion its wisdom has been here for over thirty years. This is his elaborate translation and commentary.

Bhagavad Gita translated by Jagannatha Prakasa
Gitabhasya of Jagannatha Prakasa

My spiritual path has taken me in many diverse directions. I was honored to receive siksa initiation from His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami, founder acarya of the International Society for Krsna Consciousness and to receive diksha initiation from His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Bibudha Bodhayan Maharaja, spiritual successor to His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Pramode Puri Goswami Maharaj and acarya of the Sri Gopinath Gaudiya Matha. I also received initiation from His Holiness Sri Brahmanada (Dr. Rammurti Mishra), from Swami Muktananda Paramahamsa and others. My teachings and beliefs are not always harmonious with any particular matha or any specific guru or teacher I have studied under and yet they have all inspired me in ways I can not possibly repay. Neither me nor my teachings should therefore be considered indicative of anyone but myself.

TRANSLATION

The lotus feet of our spiritual master are the only way by which we can attain pure devotional service.

I bow to his lotus feet with great awe and reverence.

By his grace one can cross the ocean of material suffering and obtain the mercy of Krsna.

My only wish is to have my consciousness purified by the words emanating from his lotus mouth.

Attachment to his lotus feet is the perfection that fulfills all desires.

He opens my darkened eyes and fills my heart with transcendental knowledge.

He is my Lord birth after birth. From him ecstatic prema emanates; by him ignorance is destroyed.

The Vedic scriptures sing of his character.

Our spiritual master is the ocean of mercy, the friend of the poor, and the lord and master of the devotees.

O master! Be merciful unto me. Give me the shade of your lotus feet. Your fame is spread all over the three worlds.

JAYA SRILA PRABHUPADA!

JAYA SRILA BODHAYAN MAHARAJA!
